Germany was ranked 11th by the EF English Proficiency Index this year, making it the 11th most English-speaking country outside of America.
It is also the first time the federal republic has fallen out of the top 10 since 2015. The EF English Proficiency Index, (EF EPI), measures the proficiency of around 2 million English-speaking adults and youth from 112 countries. The country rankings are based on their level of proficiency. They can be categorized as having “very good knowledge”, “good knowledge”, “average knowledge”, or “very little information”
