Business Description
Today, electric forklifts come in many different shapes and sizes. Some small forklifts like pallet jacks and walkies commonly use a 24V industrial battery or they might use a series of four 6V batteries to make a 24V pack. Other machines like reach trucks and stand up electric forklifts often use 36V batteries. Growing in popularity today are 80V batteries that have longer run times and a lot of amperage capacity.
Forklift users are finding that battery powered forklifts are a very convenient choice for several reasons. First is that battery powered forklifts have zero emissions. Many forklifts are used indoors where emissions levels are a big safety concern. Emissions can also harm food or other sensitive products. Battery powered forklifts also tend to have a lower cost over the life of the machine. There are fewer parts to wear out, less maintenance like oil changes are necessary, and the user doesn't need to buy fuel like LP Gas or diesel.

With this growing popularity in the use of electric forklifts, more forklift users are looking for used and reconditioned batteries to replace worn out batteries. Batteries will lose charge over several years and must be replaced. A reconditioned forklift battery can be a great choice if you would like to save some money and you don't run your forklift for over 6 hours at a time.
So what is a reconditioned forklift battery? A reconditioned forklift battery is a used battery that has had one or more bad cells replaced. Lead cells are what create the electricity in a battery. Water mixes with the lead cells and creates a corrosive acid that outputs electricity. These cells go bad over time and can be replaced with new cells.
For instance, a 36V battery will be made up of 18 cells. One or more of these cells can go bad and can be replaced. An experienced battery company can safely replace the bad cells, and slowly recharge the battery to a level that can make it "reconditioned."

Typically, reconditioned means that a forklift battery has 80% life or about 4 hours of tested discharge time. When you are buying a reconditioned battery, you should ask the seller to provide the discharge test.
Reconditioned forklift batteries can be used in new and used forklifts. Reconditioned batteries should be maintained like any new forklift battery. Maintenance includes proper watering, charging with an appropriate charger, and keeping the battery clean.
