Cornstarch granules are processed in a single or twin-screw extruder. These pellets are further processed to manufacture cast or blown films cornstarch plastic which can be blended with naturally biodegradable materials like polyvinylalcohol (PVOH), biodegradable plastics like polybutylene adipateterephthalate (PBAT) polylactic acid (PLA) and cellulose fillers to improve mechanical properties, strength and resistance to water/moisture.
