There is a profound difference between a good photographer and somebody who simply aims a camera at the world and trips shutter. The difference is a matter partly of technical knowledge and partly of imagination and trained perception.
Technically, photography is an easy subject to master. There are lots of subtleties, of course, but as we will see in the course, the basics are straightforward. Defiantly, it will require a fair amount of practice and experimenting on your part to really internalize what you have learned, however, taking sharp, well-exposed images is not very difficult.
On the other hand, photography is art. Creating an image that follows your personal vision is a much, much harder task. This is not something that can be transmitted by someone else or learned from a book. There is no shortcut, you have to go through this process yourself. The best we can do, and this is what we have been doing in this course, is to give you the tools to turn this vision into a concrete image you can share with others. We will do this by progressively moving away from the automated modes to creative, manual modes of the camera, putting you, the photographer, in charge.
The aim of this course is to encourage you to develop your own skill and insight and to make you more aware of the creative choices that are involved every time you take a picture.
The course combines practical instructions, fundamentals of camera operations, outdoor sessions, group discussions and reviews, studio work (i.e. indoor sessions), introducing basic level image editing, etc. Of course, there are submissions that are to complete during the course.
As a part of encouragement to students, we at JRVGTI have our Yearly Exhibition in which participation of students is the focus. Their best images are displayed there and they are seen by parents, friends, faculties, many experts and common people resulting in achieving their best remarks.
